National
Parks
Our national parks are glorious during the summer months, and there's
no better way to get up-close-and-personal with all of the natural
wonders of the area than to take a day hike. There are many easy and
moderate hikes that'll make you feel like your a million miles away,
and one of our favorites is in Grand Teton National Park. First, drive
up to Jenny Lake, about a half-hour north of Jackson. Then take the
scenic boat ride over Jenny Lake, gazing at the stunning mountains
rising to the sky just above you. From the far end of Jenny Lake there
are several options: hike a short distance to breathtaking Hidden
Falls, hike further to Inspiration Point, and then return via the
Jenny Lake boat shuttle. More ambitious hikers should do one of the
hikes and then skip the shuttle back, instead opting for the easy
3-mile hike around the south end of the lake. |

Yellowstone National
Park
Of course, no summer visit to Jackson Hole would be complete without
a trip to Yellowstone National Park. The southern entrance is just
63 miles north of Jackson, but once you're there you may find yourself
feeling like you've entered into another time and place. Bison roam
in herds, geysers shoot hot water into the sky, and a growing number
of gray wolves wander about the pristine lands. If that's not enough,
world-class fishing attracts thousands to the many rivers and lakes.
There's really no way to leave Yellowstone without being amazed.

Scenic & White-water
Rafting
Floating and white-water rafting are two excellent ways to enjoy the
gorgeous scenery along the banks of the Snake River. Visitors seeking
a mellow ride will enjoy ÒfloatingÓ: a guided trip down the river
in a rubber rafts. But those who prefer a few thrills should opt for
one of the white-water rafting trips. There are many guide services
around town, but Dave Hansen Whitewater and Lewis and Clark Expeditions
are two of the most popular.

Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is yet another way to get into the Western spirit.
Stables are located at Teton Village, Spring Creek Ranch, Jenny Lake
Lodge and Colter Bay, and rides can be schedules for just an hour
or for the entire day. Most riders will enjoy a trip into Grand Teton
National Park, getting high up into the trails to see alpine lakes,
glorious wildflowers and Teton Mountain views.

Jackson Hole Playhouse
Take the kids to one of Jackson's longest-running shows: the Saddle
Rock dinner show at the Jackson Hole Playhouse. Your choice of entrees,
plus all sides and fresh bread, is served by singing waiters before
the play - an excellent way to treat the family to an evening of energetic
entertainment.
